Morgan Hill’s Downtown

For over 20 years, one of Morgan Hill’s most popular Independence Day events has been the downtown street dance on the evening of July 3. The dance starts after the Patriotic Sing, which will be held at Morgan Hill’s Downtown Amphitheater, and for many people, it marks the beginning of Morgan Hill’s 4th of July celebrations. Join us for a fun-filled evening of live music and dancing, food and drinks.

Live music and dancing from 8 pm to 11 pm at Third St. and Monterey Ave. will feature “The Recurrents,” a seven-piece Bay Area band playing classic rock and Motown.   The Recurrents have put together a special “Dancing in the Street” show just for this event.

17000 Monterey Road Morgan Hill, CA 95037

Morgan Hill residents are fortunate to enjoy freedom, amber waves of grain, fruited plains, and an Independence Day celebration that has taken place since 1876.

Whether its hearing “The Stars and Stripes Forever” while watching the fireworks or turning up the radio during the traditional family BBQ, music is an essential part of how Americans celebrate Independence Day. Each year we bring some of Morgan Hill’s best bands to perform at the Family Street Dance.

Live music for the Family Music Fest Street Dance on the evening of July 3rd will be provided by “The Recurrents,” a Bay Area band known for their versatility in playing a wide variety of dance worthy music that includes, among other styles, classic rock, latin rock, southern rock, and motown.  Jack Torres fronts the band as the lead vocalist and performs in a full spectrum of styles spanning Frank Sinatra to Axel Rose.  Lead guitarist and musical director, Eric Behlmer, meticulously recreates the sounds of Carlos Santa, Slash, the Doobie Brothers and more.  The band also features Rich Bloechl on vocals, guitar and keyboards; Mike Claire on keyboards; Jim Haughey on bass; Live Oak High graduate Paul Avilla (’76) on drums; and John Ceballos on percussion.

There is a beer and wine grotto tent where beverages are available for purchase.

The beer and wine sales is one of our limited fundraising opportunities to support the free Freedom Fest Events, which include the parade, car show, patriotic sing, music fest and fireworks. So, please help us support this event

Buy beverages and drink responsibly!
