Dear Nurses,

I would like to thank you for keeping the world healthy. My mom is a nurse and I know how hard you work. My mom tells me all about it! You sometimes have to do heart surgery if someone’s heart is not working or if something is wrong. If people get really sick and you were not there, those people could die, but with you there, most people can live. You help moms have their babies and help make sure that they are healthy. You give us medicine to make us healthy if you can’t, but the medicine can. That is why I thank YOU as part of the great Red, White, and YOU!

Your friend, Ella Rose T.

Grade 3, Mrs. Miceli

Hi,

Today I will tell you about what the 4th of July means to me.

First, the 4th of July means celebrating our country’s freedom and spending time with family and friends. Also, remembering the people who fought for our freedom and country.

Second, what I do to celebrate the 4th of July is to watch fireworks with my friends and family and I also go to watch the Morgan Hill 4th of July parade.

All in all, my favorite part of the 4th of July is spending time with family and friends. Have a great 4th of July!

“LET FREEDOM RING”

El Toro Health Science Academy
3rd Grade – Mrs. Martin

The quote, “Let Freedom Ring” reminds me about letting freedom, well, go free. The quote reminds me of the hard times people had 100 years ago or more. They went through slavery and the Declaration of Independence back when America was not even a place! I wanted to say that songs also remind me of the quote “Let Freedom Ring” because there are songs that are very close to the quote, like the song called “Freedom”. There are many ways to use and say freedom in the world.

Freedom is something that has a lot of meaning to it. Imagine a world where laws were made because of your skin color or your gender. Yes! Those were real laws in the past when women couldn’t vote or you had to be white to go to a good school. These laws were unfair to many people. They had to do something about it. They had to stand up for themselves. Freedom is a lot of things and there are other ways to show Freedom. There are many phrases too! Like, “I am no bird and no net ensnares me. I am a free human with an independent will.” Or, “from every mountainside, let freedom ring.” Those quotes/phrases are a meaning of freedom.

“Let Freedom Ring” means a lot to people and me. Everyone deserves equal rights. Even today, we still need equal rights. We also need to take care of nature and other people’s decisions. We should still respect what they do because they deserve freedom for their own space and what they put their mind to. “Let Freedom Ring” for the right to vote. “Let Freedom Ring” so people can make their own decisions. The people of America or wherever, remember: Lend a helping hand to someone in need. You can do whatever you put your mind to whether it’s hard or impossible or you just don’t know if you can do it. Yet. Everyone needs to make their own choices. “Let Freedom Ring”.

“MY HERO - ALBERT EINSTEIN”

Charter School Morgan Hill
2nd Grade - Ms. Bernstein

Albert Einstein wasn’t just a smart physicist, he changed the world. If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t know how to do numerous amount of things. He is mostly famous for his theory of relativity. I want to become just like him because he won a Nobel Prize and discovered new theories in science and mathematics. When I grow up I want to become as smart as Albert Einstein and use his theories to put life on the next level.

Einstein was hardworking, when he was young he studied at home by teaching himself math and science from books. I also like doing workbooks to learn new math and science concepts at home just like him. School wasn’t his favorite since it was very strict and the teachers didn’t allow curiosity in the classroom. He was persistent when he failed an entry exam at college but kept on trying. Einstein was patient when scientists took time to see if his theories were correct, and sometimes did not agree with him.

As a little boy when Einstein fell sick his dad gave him a compass, he played with it and realized it always turned north, south, east and west. This made him curious about physics, just like when my mom bought me a crystal kit and I did my first experiment. I added alum to water and a day later it was a giant crystal, I wondered how it happened. Later I figured out the alum absorbed the water until it dried and formed a pointy crystal. Just like Einstein I love science experiments from the simple electro magnet or lemon fuel rockets, I just love to find out why things happen.

When I read about Einstein for the first time I was amazed that he transformed from a kid who couldn’t talk at 3 to one of the smartest scientists we know. Albert Einstein loved to experiment his experiments in his brain before doing them. I have tried to do this but I’m not always correct, like when I questioned what happens to a copper 2 sulfate crystal when it’s put in water? My answer was it has crystals grow on it, but the book’s answer was it grows bigger and bigger. However, this has not stopped me from experimenting in my brain.

Albert Einstein inspires me to become a scientist and to stay curious since he always says imagination is better than knowledge.

In conclusion, Albert Einstein is my science hero because he discovered theories in mathematics and physics which have helped scientists create new inventions and progress in nuclear science.

Emma K.

Nordstrom School
3rd Grade - Mrs. Lefevre

My Grandmother, Nancy Fishman, you are a huge deal. So, yes! Keep reading this, I have a lot to talk about. You, simply seeking to start a food rescue organization in Detroit, out of your car, started America’s largest food rescue organization in America —

which I admire about you — thank you, Nana. Oh, and did I mention, Forgotten Harvest rescues 46,000,000 pounds of food per year, which I also admire, thanks again Nana! I also admire you for coming to California, starting a food rescue here called A La Carte, part of the Loaves and Fishes organization, and inspiring many young Americans to save the community and save food for the needy and all the Americans here living in poverty. Oh, and don’t let me forget, that when I grow up, thanks to you, I will keep the food organization business running. Someday, I will start an organization so all of the people in the future living in poverty will get the high quality meals they deserve. So, thank you for inspiring me and other people to help save the American community!

Thank you so much Nana Fishman!

I also admire your amazing ability to tell stories that get people hooked in. Also, you have the ability to listen to someone telling a story and to make someone feel good about their storytelling. You are not just an amazing story-telling, non-profit founder, but also a psychologist with a PhD, which you got in a time when not many American women were able to get a PhD. Thank you so much for being a first and for inspiring others. Oh, I almost forgot! There are so many stories about you that we love. One time when you traveled from Michigan to Morgan Hill, you thought your family needed corned beef for no certain occasion. You got on an airplane with a corned beef in your luggage. This shows how wonderful you are and how much you care about your family.

You, Nancy Fishman, are a vegetarian who flew to Michigan and used your time and money to get a juicy corned beef for all of our family.

All in all, Nana, you are inspiring, funny, intelligent, generous, and one of the most exciting, amazing people I’ve ever met.
